[Opensource] Hydrogen Advanced Drum Machine | Software

Hydrogen Logo
Hydrogen is an advanced drum machine. It has a Qt-based MDI-style interface, with mixer, song editor, pattern editor, drumkit manager, and instrument editor subwindows. Included drumkits (sample sets) include GeneralMIDI (emulating a Roland XV-5080) and Roland TR-808. Although I'm not a musician, the interface is straightforward enough that I was able to begin experimenting quickly, starting with the included demo files. Hydrogen is very easy to use and the resulting tracks can be recorded in the most popular standard formats for PC and Mac, such as. Wav,. Au, and. AIFF.

Hydrogen is created by Alessandro Cominu, an Italian programmer who goes by the pseudonym Comix. Its main goal is to provide professional yet simple and intuitive pattern-based drum programming.

Hydrogen was originally developed for Linux, but later ported to Mac OS X. Support for Microsoft Windows seemed to have been abandoned, since the last build dated to 2006 for 4 years, but a Microsoft Windows port exists as a snapshot of the upcoming 0.9.6 version, indicating that Microsoft Windows is likely to be supported in the future. The graphical user interface for the application uses Qt library. All code is released under the GNU General Public License. Hydrogen is free software.

[OpenSource] Inkscape | Software

Inkscape Logo
Inkscape is a specialized editor for vector images. Vector graphics is the use of geometrical primitives Such as points, lines, curves, and shapes or polygon (s), the which are all based on mathematical equations, to Represent images in computer graphics.

Inkscape supports many advanced SVG features (markers, clones, alpha blending, etc.) and great care is taken in designing a streamlined interface. It is very easy to edit nodes, perform complex path operations, trace bitmaps and much more. We also aim to maintain a thriving user and developer community by using open, community-oriented development.

Regression fixes:
  • Many small regressions in the node tool were fixed. Here are some examples:
  • Shift will turn off snapping in the node tool.
  • Duplication of nodes in the node tool using Shift+D works again.
  • Changing all selected segments into straight lines in the node tool using Shift+L works again.
  • Changing the type of nodes to cusp will retract their handles only if all selected nodes are already cusp. This improves usability when working with selections that contain both cusp and smooth nodes.
Important bugfixes
  • Exporting of masks has been substantially improved in all Cairo-based output formats.
  • Several crash bugs in the node tool have been fixed.
  • Rulers are redrawn properly with recent versions of GTK.
  • Unlinking an orphaned clone no longer causes a crash.
  • Problems with extensions sometimes not working at all on Mac OS X have been fixed.
  • Inkscape should no longer crash due to missing icons at startup or when opening the document properties dialog.
  • Shift-clicking on the top rounding handle of a rectangle will no longer cause a crash.
  • Inkscape builds correctly with recent versions of Poppler.
